The Johnny
Smith Award is the crown jewel in
Fender's GuildŽ revival! Originally,
this exquisite acoustic archtop made its
debut in 1956, as a collaboration
between jazz guitarist Johnny Smith and
Guild. It has been painstakingly
redesigned by Bob Benedetto to meet the
standards and specifications originally
established by Smith. One slight
modification was made in the design; the
fingerboard extension contacts the top
over a wider area, resulting in improved
sustain for the highest notes.
Carved
from the finest European Spruce and
European Maple (back and sides), the
beauty of this instrument is in its
details; from the 5-piece Maple neck
with a select Ebony fingerboard, to the
distintive Abalone and Mother-of-Pearl
inlay and bone nut. A must-see,
must-play for jazz guitar enthusiasts
